A report in the Albany Times-Union, claims FBI agents have interviewed New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo personnel including highly paid former Obama administration and Hillary Clinton campaign staffers.
In a nutshell, back in March of 2017 Governor Cuomo hired expensive political appointees to work for the Executive Chamber, but is paying them through other government organizations.
This prompted the FBI to interview people who work for the governor’s office, but are paid by separate state agencies or authorities.
Paying these salaries through other entities has allowed Cuomo to increase the size of internal staff while giving the appearance of staying below the Executive Chamber annual budget.
In some instances, the FBI obtained documents stating an employee would be working for a specific agency or authority. But upon close review, it appears the intention was for them to work for Governor Cuomo’s office, according to reports.
In addition, the FBI is also attempting to determine whether the Executive Chamber officials’ job duties have any relation with the agency or authority actually paying their expensive salaries.
Perhaps all of the financial maneuvering by Governor Cuomo’s office is simply pay back to the Obama administration or maybe for looking the other way when it came to some of the controversial operations of the DNC.
Some speculate perhaps Governor Cuomo is getting all of his ducks in a row in preparation of a 2020 Presidential Run.
In 1993, Cuomo joined then President Bill Clintons Administration as assistant secretary for community planning and development in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He was also the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 1997 to 2001.
It also worth noting in 2014, Cuomo had been actively involved in the formation of the Independent Democratic Conference three years earlier. This gave control of the State Senate to Republicans. He was also accused of failing to bridge the rift between the IDC and the Democratic caucus in the Senate despite being able to.
The FBI’s investigation into Cuomo’s hiring practices is also a carryover to the January corruption trial of former top Cuomo aide Joe Percoco and three others.
