Meryl Streep is trying hard to desperately change the conversation about herself and her complicit attitude regarding the tornado of sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein.
Streep has never been shy about speaking out in the past. Especially against the President of the United States of America. As some say, the most powerful position held on the planet. Meryl was emboldened to let all of us hear her opinions of President Trump.
Yet, when it came to one of her own, colleague Harvey Weinstein, Streep was as quiet as a church mouse. Not a peep.
Meryl Streep has made a bad attempt at deflecting criticism about the Harvey Weinstein scandal and what she knew and when she knew it.
Even worse, in a pathetic, amateur-hour move, at trying to turn the attention on the First Lady.
Streep was recently quoted saying the following:
“I don’t want to hear about the silence of me. I want to hear about the silence of Melania Trump. I want to hear from her. She has so much that’s valuable to say. And so, does Ivanka. I want her to speak now”.
Shame on you Meryl. Bad move.
Melania Trump has never worked with Harvey Weinstein, Meryl Streep has, repeatedly.
Streep has insisted time and time again that she never had any knowledge of Weinstein’s alleged misconduct. These claims have been met with criticism and cries of hypocrisy from stars like Rose McGowan.
Streep stated, “When I heard the rumors about actresses, I thought that was a way of denigrating the actress and her ability to get the job. That really raised my hackles. I didn’t know that he was in any way abusing people. He never asked me to a hotel room”.
So, I guess that means everyone else is lying? How convenient for Meryl Streep.
However, it appears Hollywood and members of society have rated Meryl Streep’s’ recent performance a failure. Lackluster and without any real “heart” put into the performance.
Just one month after posters with Streep’s face popped up around Los Angeles with “She knew” plastered across the front, the actress still tried to defend her complicit behavior by playing ignorant.
Streep again maintained that she “really didn’t know” about Weinstein’s behavior, and that she assumed he was just “having girlfriends.”
Wow. Okay Meryl. No problem with what Harvey was doing, but again, lets’ get in front of that camera and take down a President who had not done anything at that moment except win an election.
I guess she wants us to listen to her words and rise up to applaud her empty clichés when it comes to President Trump, but also wants us to believe she is oblivious and clueless when it comes to dozens of women being sexually assaulted within her own industry. Please, give us all a break. Go back to acting and keep quite on matters that extend beyond Tinsel-town.
Meryl Streep continues to say people should be focusing more on the silence of First Lady Melania Trump than on her own silence. I bet she does.
Streep stated, “I found out about this on a Friday and went home deep into my own life. And then somebody told me that on ‘Morning Joe’ they were screaming that I haven’t responded yet. I don’t have a Twitter thing or — handle, whatever. And I don’t have Facebook. I really had to think. Because it really underlined my own sense of cluelessness, and how evil, deeply evil, and duplicitous, a person he was, yet such a champion of really great work.”
The star has worked with Weinstein on multiple films, and in her Golden Globes acceptance speech for “The Iron Lady” jokingly referred to Harvey Weinstein as “god.”
Is there really a way for her to come back from making that statement?
Streep went on to state, “You think you know everything about everybody. So much gossip. You don’t know anything. People are so inscrutable on a certain level. And it’s a shock. Some of my favorite people have been brought down by this, and he’s not one of them.”
No kidding Meryl. Well, one thing is for sure, in a moment of crisis for dozens of women in Hollywood and around the world for that matter, Meryl Streep admits “cluelessness.”
You don’t need a Twitter account of a Facebook page to step up and do the right thing.
Let us all be reminded she is an “actress” and none of really know the person on the screen.
