So, the D.C. Black Caucus unanimously voted NOT to oust disgraced congressman John Conyers. Oh, how the double standards do fly on broken wings.
The members of the Black Caucus apparently do not feel Conyers should have to step down after numerous complaints and allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment against him, notably some of which he has actually admitted to. But, Roy Moore, and let’s be crystal here, ONLY Roy Moore should step down, right guys? And, yes, of course he should, no question. So, how about Al Franken, or Arizona representative Raul Grijalva? AND, most certainly not John Conyers, after all, according to Nancy Pelosi, Conyers is an “icon”, or haven’t you heard? Pelosi has since come out and caled for him to resign, late on the outcry, once again.
After the vote on Conyers status within the Black Caucus was finalized, Representative Cedric Richmond of Louisiana was asked by a reporter for the reasoning behind the vote. Richmond was asked why it was defensible to allow Conyers to stay while others accused of similar misconduct have been fired from their jobsite, Charlie Rose, Garson Keillor, Matt Lauer, etc. Representative Richmond’s response was the following, “who elected THEM?”. WOW. A truer, more elitist, transparent, don’t give a damn about the people answer has likely never been uttered.
So, Mr. Richmond, to be clear, you are saying because Rose, Keillor, Lauer, Weinstein were never elected to public office, their outcomes are justified. But, not true for Conyers. Because he’s an elected official, and because he happens to be black. Correct?
Representative Richmond, you sound like an elitist, let us hope there are not racist undertones at hand as well. These types of narrow minded views are a huge part of the problem, and make Richmond appear to not care one iota about what has happened to the many women John Conyers abused, or the blatant abuse of power connected to his elected position.
Here’s a question, Representative Richmond, WHO elected YOU? The old guard, career politicians of the Democratic Party perhaps.
Keep up the good work with your beyond careless answers, and thoughts, and we’ll see where you end up come your next election cycle.
It’s possible that you just might be untouchable. But, of course, you are not. Life just isn’t like that.
It is more plausible that you are just another opportunist politician waiting to be found out by those you elected you to SERVE THE PEOPLE.
And, Representative Richmond, make no mistake, they WILL eventually find you out.
Your very own ridiculous mouth will all but guarantee it.
